The growing number of Early Childhood services that are being built is causing many services to have vacancies. At times services may have vacancies due to the quality of the service but some have vacancies due to being lost in the crowd.
To help you understand why your enrolments are low, I encourage you to reflect and think about what may be a cause that is affecting your enrolments. When reflecting avoid placing blame on someone or something, as this serves no positive purpose for you and the service. You need to reflect on areas that you have control over, because when you reflect with purpose and intent on why your enrolments are low, you will be able to brain storm valuable solutions to the problem.
Below you will find ways you can reflect
Ask yourself does the local community know we are here, if not then why? and then look at ways your service including children can participate in the local community; this can be events, holding your own event or something simple as the children going on excursions within the local community. When your service is known in the community in a positive way, families when thinking about placing their child in care they will remember those days they had seen your service at the specific day or event.
Another is, does the local business's know your location, because this is where you can get many enrolments; you can place your centre pamphlet in their foyer, build a good relationship with the businesses as well as offering large business a incentive that will help you and them. People working are the ones that need childcare and by building a relationship and partnership with the local business's this will have new parents wanting their child in the same centre as their colleague due to the feedback.
One simple thing to reflect on that you can control is does the centre's signage be seen from the street. If families cannot see a sign they are not going to know you are there and not going to remember your centre name or think you are in a convenient position for drop off and pick up. .
When reflecting and looking for a solution you need to remember your main outcome is wanting families to think of you and your service name when ever thinking about placing their child in a service.
Make sure you are known in the local community, local business and be seen by the local families. These are only some reflecting questions, but these are some that will help begin the journey or reflect and act and grow your enrolments.
